Going in a group helps you cover more territory, pass out more care bags, share more wellness tips, and make an impact on more people. Partnering with friends, family, or colleagues is a great way to get started.

When performing street outreach, we recommend following a buddy system. Split your group into pairs so that no more than two people are approaching one individual. You don’t want to overwhelm anyone. 

Being with others provides you with a number of benefits. Having people to prep and talk with on your way there can help ground you and give you confidence to approach that first person. You can support one another during your time out, and afterwards, share and process what you learned on your way home, such as what you found and how you felt.

This activity is about helping people, but it’s also about learning and helping ourselves. Practice makes perfect whether you’re doing so in a mirror, or with a friend, or by hitting the streets again and again.
