Free Childcare for Vaccinated Parents – How KinderCare and Learning Care Group Eased the Burden
Discover how KinderCare and Learning Care Group offered free childcare to support parents getting vaccinated during COVID-19. A story of community care and corporate responsibility.
A Hidden Barrier: Childcare Challenges During the Pandemic
As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, many parents faced a daunting dilemma: how to get vaccinated without reliable childcare. For single parents, hourly workers, and those without extended family support, this logistical hurdle often delays or prevents vaccination.
Recognizing this critical issue, our dedicated volunteers at Bright Mind Enrichment and Street Care, through their own app “Vaccination Rewards”, embarked on a mission to identify resources that could alleviate this burden. Through extensive research and outreach, they uncovered a remarkable initiative by two leading childcare providers.

KinderCare's "Dose of Care" Program
KinderCare, operating over 1,600 centers nationwide, launched the “Dose of Care” program to support the national vaccination effort. This initiative offered families a free day of childcare for each COVID-19 vaccine dose received, accommodating children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. The program was available through Labor Day 2021 and included select Saturday care options in June. Families could reserve their spot by contacting participating centers directly.

Learning Care Group's Comprehensive Support
Learning Care Group, encompassing over 950 schools across 37 states under various brands like La Petite Academy and Tutor Time, also stepped up. They provided up to two complimentary days of childcare to assist parents during vaccination appointments and recovery periods. This offer was available for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years and required scheduling at least 24 hours in advance.
The Impact: Real Stories from the Community
Our volunteers’ efforts to disseminate information about these programs had tangible effects. Parents expressed immense relief upon discovering these childcare options, allowing them to prioritize their health without compromising their children’s safety. Some even shared heartfelt thank-you notes, emphasizing the profound difference this support made during challenging times.
Continuing the Mission
While these specific programs concluded in 2021, the spirit of community support they embodied continues to inspire. It’s a testament to how corporate responsibility and grassroots efforts can intersect to address public health challenges effectively.
